There's all kinds of weirdly significant things in the desert.
The Tehachapi Pass Wind Farm is very large and visually pretty arresting
This is the tank yard of the General Patton Memorial Museum, commemorating the site of the Desert Training Center, where US troops practiced for the invasion of North Africa during WWII. Its in Chiriaco, southeast of Joshua Tree.
Also there's so many Subway Sandwich counters at so many gas stations in Arizona and New Mexico. This seems significant, but it probably isn't.
